Cassandra and Sean were married last fall in the beautiful Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Huntington Street in Boston. This is really a beautiful location to get married in Boston, and the autumn day couldn’t have been any more perfect.
I started their Boston wedding photography coverage at the Westin in Copley Square, only a short distance from the Cathedral. Cassandra and Sean were heading back to the Westin after the ceremony for the reception, and we were also aiming for photos on the steps of the Boston Public Library, which is nearby.
I first shot with Cassandra and her family, and got some great shots of her and her bridesmaids getting ready, in addition to some great views across Boston and down into Copley Square below. It’s always nice to get a great cityscape into your Boston wedding photos and with the view from the Westin, that was easy to do. It also gave me the opportunity to capture a number of great images of her stunning wedding dress and shoes.
Sean was getting ready with the rest of the guys downstairs, so after I had a good selection of photos with the ladies, it was time to head to the groomsmen. The guys were relaxed and getting ready and it was a nice chance to capture some images of them together before they headed out, as well as capturing some portraits of Sean by himself.
I then headed back upstairs to catch up with Cassandra again and get some more portraits with her before she finally left the Westin for the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She looked amazing, and it was fun to grab a few last shots with her and her family and bridesmaids before they left.
The Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Boston is a wonderful location for a wedding ceremony and one that they had planned over a year beforehand. Cassandra and her family are of Greek descent, and I think everyone was excited to be holding the wedding in such a beautiful location in Boston. From a photographic perspective, the location allows many different angles and it’s such an interesting space inside. We captured all the family photos together at the altar after the mass, which gave a lovely backdrop.
After the ceremony we headed straight back to Copley Square for formal photos with the bridal party. Copley Square and the steps in front of the Boston Public Library make for the quintessential Boston Wedding photographs for your big day. The location is a landmark of the city and the backdrop is perfect in every way.
Although we had to dodge the rain a couple of times, we managed to get all of the images captured before the really heavy rain fell later.
Once the festivities got going for the night, they weren’t showing any times of stopping and I’m sure that Cassandra and Sean celebrated their Boston wedding day with their friends and family well into the early hours.
Thank you both so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day and photography your Boston wedding.
