I had been looking forward to shooting Emily and Carlos’ wedding day for sometime. Actually it was since I met them for the first time to discuss the photography for their big day. The hotel Nine Zero in Boston is a wonderful venue and offers a stunning array of places to shoot portraits. This was one of the reasons, but the main reason was because Emily and Carlos were such great people and I had been really looking forward to seeing them for their Boston wedding day, especially after we had shot their Beacon Hill engagement session a month or so earlier.
They had the perfect day planned out. A nice early afternoon start meant that they were able to relax into their day and spend a bit of time with their immediate families before the ceremony and getting ready.
I started the day shooting with Emily and her family to capture some stunning getting ready shots of her and also to shot some of them all together before she headed downstairs to her and Carlos ceremony. I think that you’ll all agree Emily looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress and that we got some wonderful shots of her and her parents and brother.
Carlos was already waiting downstairs when I met with him on the day and was looking perfectly dapper with his smart tux and wonderful orchid boutonnière. We had the chance to capture some great portraits of him and his brother Cesar, before they went to the front of the ceremony room to wait for Emily. The Nine Zero hotel offers a really great place to get married in Boston. Apart from its perfect location close to the heart of the city, it has a great space for getting people together to celebrate. On top of that all the staff there were great to work with and very accommodating.
Their ceremony was great and Emily and Carlos were both very emotional which had everyone else going as well. Carol Merletti did a wonderful job of officiating the wedding and was a real pleasure to work with as well and I hope to shoot more weddings where she is officiating in the near future.
The party was great and it was a wonderful atmosphere. I did borrow Emily and Carlos a couple of times from the dancing and celebrations to grab a few more shots of them before the end of the night. There was one shot in particular that we had had in mind and that was to work in the “Beantown Pub” sign, just next door to Nine Zero into a wedding photo or two. You can’t get much more of a Boston wedding photograph than under a Beantown sign.
