Niki and Nathan were married at the Hyatt Harborside in Boston last fall and I had the privilege of capturing their New England wedding celebration. The wedding ceremony was situated in a marquee outside on the lawn, and then the serious business of some awesome dance moves was conducted upstairs in the stunning ballroom over looking the harbor.
I knew from the first meeting that these guys were going to be loads of fun and that their day was going to be filled with some great family and a whole load of good friends. The late fall weather was in their favor, although just a tad too crisp to hold the ceremony completely outside, but with the marquee on hand that didn’t prove a problem. This side of the harbor gives a wonderful look back across at the city and serves as the perfect backdrop to any Boston wedding.
I shot with both Niki and Nathan in their rooms while they were getting ready, which was an easy task as they were just a couple of doors down from each other. With Nathan completely ready, we headed outside to wait for Niki so we could capture their “first look” photos together. I wanted to capture the Boston cityscape in the background of the shots together so after getting the first look shots at the front of the hotel, we moved around to the waterfront to incorporate the view into their Hyatt Harborside wedding photos.
Their ceremony was held in the marquee outside the hotel and it was the perfect spot to keep people warm and still experience the views across the harbor. The ceremony included readings from both sides of the family and the chuppah was made from a tablecloth that had been brought to the states by Nathan’s Grandmother, and was very special to them both so it was wonderful to be able to incorporate it into their day. The ceremony was filled with personal touches that helped narrate the story of their relationship, and involved family and friends that were present, as well as remembering loved ones that could not be with them.
When it was time for the party, I don’t know if I’ve seen more dancing at other weddings this year. Right from the beginning, with their surprise first dance choreography, these two were busting out some amazing moves and the rest of the wedding party and guests weren’t far behind. I did manage to drag them away from the dance floor for a last few shots and an outside view across the harbor at night. It was a tad colder by that point, but the shots came out great and it wasn’t long before they were back on the dance floor to party the rest of the night away. Congratulations to you both and here’s to many happy years ahead for you both!
