Happy New Year! I’d like to start this year off by looking back at some of the great weddings I was privileged to have photographed here in Boston and further afield last year.

I photographed weddings all through New England, from wedding photos in Boston in the heart of the city, to farms in New Hampshire and coastal weddings down in Rhode Island. Each one was unique and just as much fun as the last. It was a true pleasure to have been part of so many happy days last year and I’m looking forward to what the next year will bring.

These are just a small sample of some of my favorite wedding images from 2012 and I’ll be posting a few more in part 2 (and maybe 3) very soon.
Thank you so much again to all those couples that I had the chance to work with in 2012 and for those that I have already given me the green light to capture in 2013. I really looking forward to another great here photographing weddings in New England, from The Cape up into Maine.

Julia and Ben held their New England wedding day celebrations at Castleton in NH earlier this summer. This beautiful location is situated very close to my wife’s family, who are based in Hudson, NH and it was pleasure to be able to shoot close to an area that I am now very familiar with. A wedding at Castleton in Windham NH, feels like you are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and the large pond and the open spaces make it a wonderful location for a wedding ceremony and photos in New England. The day started off with the strong threat of rain, but that soon cleared up and we ended up with an amazing day for them both to celebrate with their families.

I always like to start coverage with the groom if possible, as that gives me a chance to get some great shots of him and any groomsmen together, before I head to the bride and her preparations. I had the chance to get some shots of Ben in the grounds of Castleton and he looked great, suited and booted for the big day.

I then headed to meet up with Julia to capture some shots of her with her mum and maid of honor while they were all getting ready. Julia looked stunning and the light coming in through the window at Castleton lit the room and the shots beautifully. Julia’s flowers were an elegant bouquet that matched her dress perfectly. Capturing the detail shots here in this beautiful light and backdrop completed a great set of shots.

I headed out ahead of Julia to give her time to finish getting ready and spend some time with her mum before heading out to see Ben for the first time at the altar. This gave me the chance to capture some wedding photos in Castleton’s grounds with the guests as they arrived, and to get set for Julia walking down the aisle. The garden at Castleton is a wonderful location, with the stunning pond behind providing the perfect backdrop. It was a wonderfully intimate ceremony and one that was a true pleasure to be part of.

After the ceremony, we headed to another part of the grounds that offer some shade from the hot summer sun to capture Ben and Julia’s family photos and to spend sometime with the two of them together to capture their New England wedding portraits. Castleton offers some truly wonderful locations to capture these shots and we had lots of time to use the perfectly manicured grounds to get them some great shots together. I had a great time shooting with these guys and I think you’ll agree they looked wonderful together.

Once we had a great selection of portraits outside, it was time to return them to their guests. With a wonderful array of cupcakes laid out and the great meal to come, I wanted to get them back to their celebrations as soon as possible. Ben and Julia’s friends and families were a pleasure to shoot with, and were all in the party mood. As the dancing and celebrations continued inside, I wanted to get a couple more shots for them both outside and inside, as the banquet hall at Castleton is wonderfully lit and made for a stunning last portrait for them to finish their coverage with.
