Happy New Year! I’d like to start this year off by looking back at some of the great weddings I was privileged to have photographed here in Boston and further afield last year.
I photographed weddings all through New England, from wedding photos in Boston in the heart of the city, to farms in New Hampshire and coastal weddings down in Rhode Island. Each one was unique and just as much fun as the last. It was a true pleasure to have been part of so many happy days last year and I’m looking forward to what the next year will bring.
Some of the New England weddings I photographed last year are yet to have a complete blog post but this will give you a little sneak peek into some of those.
These are just a small sample of some of my favorite wedding images from 2012 and I’ll be posting a few more in part 2 (and maybe 3) very soon.
Thank you so much again to all those couples that I had the chance to work with in 2012 and for those that I have already given me the green light to capture in 2013. I really looking forward to another great here photographing weddings in New England, from The Cape up into Maine.
If you would like to get in touch about discussing coverage options for your wedding in 2013 then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I only have so many weekends in the year as I photograph every New England wedding that I book and the weekends fill up quick. Drop me a message from the contact page and we can get going to plan out the perfect coverage for you and your big day.
All the best for 2013, I hope that you are all looking forward to it as much as me.
As promised, I’m back on track with blogging and catching up on all the great New England weddings I was privileged to be a part of this past summer and fall. One of these was Rachel and Evan’s wedding, at the stunning Oceancliff Resort in Newport, Rhode Island. I photographed their Beacon Hill engagement session last year and was really excited to shoot their wedding day.
Oceancliff is a wonderful venue situated right on the waterfront in Rhode Island and it was the first time I was shooting here. Although living in DC now, New England is still home for Rachel and Evan and that helped in their choice to have the wedding here. I started as I normally do with the girls, capturing them getting ready and the fun they were having. Rachel was getting ready in the Gate House, a wonderful house separate from the main build on the grounds near the entrance. This old house provided a really great backdrop and had some really nice features to incorporate into their Oceancliff wedding photos.
Rachel and her bridesmaids were adding the final touches to the table place cards and getting there hair and make up done, so we had lots to cover over in the Gate House. Rachel looked stunning in her beautiful wedding gown and with the morning having flown past, it was nearly time to head over for the first look with Evan in the courtyard of Oceancliff.
Evan was staying in the main building of Oceancliff, so it meant that I could easily switch between him and Rachel to make sure that we got some shots of him and the guys getting ready. We got these shots before their first look downstairs.
It was really nice shooting their first look, and as ever, I try and stay out of the way and let them have their time together during this very special moment. The courtyard at Oceancliff couldn’t have been any better a setting for this.
As with all Jewish wedding ceremonies, the couple signed the Ketubah, or marriage contract, before going out to the lawn at the back of Oceancliff for the wedding under the Chuppah. The Ketubah is a beautiful document and the signing is a very nice part of the day, shared with Rachel and Evan’s closest friends and family.
The evening sunset falling over the ceremony was beautiful and the setting was perfect, with the early fall providing just the right temperature outside for the ceremony. With the sea as a backdrop I don’t think you could really have asked for more.
As the sun started to go down, we made the most of this wonderful quality of light to capture shots of Rachel and Evan together. With the sea and lights across the estuary as a backdrop as well as the sky as it exploded with color, we got some great wedding day shots here.
It wasn’t long before the festivities moved to the party phase, and boy can this gang dance! After the meal and the moving speeches were given, these guys didn’t hang around long before the dance floor was packed out and jumping! And it stayed this way for most of the night.
I did manage to convince Rachel and Evan to leave the hopping dance floor for a few minutes just to grab another couple of shots before I left them to party the rest of the night away at Oceancliff, with their fantastic group of friends and family. Thank you to you both for allowing me to shoot your New England wedding day and all of the celebrations.
