Jillian and Geoff traveled from the west coast to be married in Massachusetts, in Jillian’s hometown of Woburn earlier this year, and held their celebrations at the stunning Boston Harbor Hotel on Boston’s waterfront, with a quick stop-off at the Boston Public Gardens in the mix as well.
I started off with Jillian, her bridesmaids and family at the Boston Harbor Hotel where Jillian was getting ready. With some great views over the city from the room near the top of the hotel, this was a perfect spot to get ready before the big day. The girls all looked great, and Jillian was first to get ready as we were meeting Geoff in the Public Gardens for their first look. Traveling over with Jillian in the limo let me capture some great shots of her on the drive over.
Geoff was waiting in the Public Gardens when we turned up, and it was fun to shoot my first “first look” with them. First looks are a great way to ensure that you get all the photographs that you want, but that you get to spend as much time as possible with your friend and family at the reception. Plus, with all the preparation and buzz on the day of your wedding, it’s a great way to take a few moments and connect with your soon-to-be husband or wife before the curtains go up!
Their ceremony was in Woburn at St Charles Church, and we traveled there from the Boston Harbor Hotel, with the groom and groomsmen heading there about 45 minutes before Jillian and the rest of the guests. This gave Breck, who was shooting with me that day, the chance to work with them. The ceremony was beautiful, and the church wonderfully lit.
After the ceremony, we headed back to the Boston Harbor Hotel for wedding pictures and the rest of the evening’s festivities, including a surprise flash-mob coordinated by Jillian’s bridesmaids and friends. Later on in the evening, I borrowed Jillian and Geoff once more to capture some shots of them with a slightly different ambiance, and work the iconic arch of the Boston Harbor Hotel into their wedding shots as well.
Thank you Jillian and Geoff for allowing me to capture your New England wedding day and a big shout out to Breck Sargent for his help that day as well.
