Sara and Chris were having a Back Bay wedding at Mistral, a really great restaurant in the heart of Boston and a place that has been on my list to visit since I moved to Boston and heard about it from friends. They wanted an intimate setting with their family and close friends to surround them, and the Salon du Mistral fit the bill perfectly. I’m splitting this wedding into two parts so look out soon for part two and be sure to “like” us on Facebook for notice on when it’s live!
I had met Sara and Chris only a couple of months before their actual wedding date at my normal meeting spot Vicki Lee’s café in Belmont’s Cushing Square. They were both excited about the day and knew that they wanted to have a wedding where they could spend time with their guests and enjoy great food and cocktails to celebrate the occasion. Mistral’s location, layout and menu, meant that they were able to have all of these things in the one place.
They were both getting ready just down the road at the Loews Back Bay Boston Hotel, so it was an easy journey between locations for the day and we lost little time going from the hotel to the restaurant. This meant that we had a little more time for family and preparation photos before the ceremony. My wife normally assists me on wedding day shoots, but as she was attending to her own bridesmaid duties in New York that day, I had the very talented photographer Sam Liang along with me to help out and capture some images as well.
Starting at the hotel allowed me to get some great images of Sara getting ready and spending time with her mum and family before the actual ceremony. We then had time to get some nice family shots of everyone together before they left the hotel. I shot with Chris first so that he could leave and be at Mistral and ready to go once we arrived.
Sara looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful wedding dress by designer Hayley Paige from Hyde Park Bridal store. It really was the perfect dress for her. Chris mirrored her in terms of style with a rather dapper suit from Brooks Brothers and together – well I think the pictures do better than words in that respect.
The ceremony itself was held in the private dining room, with all the guests surrounding Sara and Chris sitting at their tables apart from their immediate family who were sitting closer to them. The Salon du Mistral really does lend itself to an intimate wedding venue and if you are looking for just that I couldn’t advise a better location.
I can’t wait to post part two showing some more shots of Chris and Sara together after the ceremony and their wedding celebrations at the reception. Check back here very soon to see more.
Cheers,
