I’ve shot in Rockport, MA a few times in the past year, so when Ashley and John got in touch to ask about coverage for their wedding day by the sea, I couldn’t wait to hear what they had planned. They are based on Long Island in New York and were going to be traveling to Rockport to have their special day by the coast with their friends and family and I had the pleasure of capturing their photos.
I knew these guys were going to be great fun the day that I met them, and that it would be another fun day photographing in Rockport. Although I’m not based out of Rockport, I will always gladly travel to this wonderful part of the state to cover a wedding. It has become one of my favorite spots along the Massachusetts coastline.
Ashley and John were getting ready at the Rockport Inn and Suites, a location I have actually shot at a number of times before, so it was a nice familiar start to the day for me. Both the bride and groom were very relaxed, and with John joined by all his brothers and Ashley with her sister and friend it was a very fun and easygoing morning all around.
Ashley and John were due to get married at Halibut Point State Park, but the late Fall weather turned a little too cold that day, and they decided to make the call early and move the ceremony indoors to the Rockport Arts Association instead. This turned out to be a wise call and was a good example of why it is important to have a back up plan for your outdoor ceremony in case Mother Nature turns up in a bad mood.
Ashley and John were doing a first look, and we were able to get ready for this at the waterfront in the very heart of Rockport. It was a great setting, and the local candy store allowed us to shoot from inside their premises, which gave us a few unique images and some amazing double chocolate fudge as well! As Ashley and John had decided to do a first look, it meant that we had lots of opportunities to explore the area and get their Rockport wedding photos in a number of different locations. We also had the time to head to Halibut Point State Park to get all the family and bridal party shots as well.
Although the weather wasn’t the best that could have been hoped for, it was still nice enough to head to the State Park and spend some time there. After capturing all of the family groups, we took a little more time and got Ashley and John some great images outdoors at the State Park as well.
The ceremony had moved into one of the fantastic rooms at the Rockport Arts Association and it perfectly fit all of Ashley and John’s friends and family. This is a really great room and a wonderful space to hold a wedding. After the ceremony, it was straight into the festivities and it was an absolute pleasure to have been able to capture these in full until the end of the night for the newlyweds. Thank you to Ashley and John for letting me be a part of their wonderful Rockport wedding day and celebrations. I wish John and Ashley all the very best for the future together.
I could leave without getting them a wedding photo at the Rockport Arts Association that worked in the wonderful lights in the beautiful courtyard and this was one of my favorite images of the day.
