So this Boston engagement session is a little different. These guys aren’t engaged, but are actually friends and this shoot was set up so that we could help each other out and capture some great images, that hopefully they can both use as well. Marcella and Dennis are both models here in Boston and when we were talking one day about locations we’d like to shoot, Boston’s Waterfront came up, so we decided that we would take an afternoon to scope out its possibilities.
We started off the “Boston engagement session” at South Station were we met up. This hadn’t been my plan, I just couldn’t help but shoot some photos in the wonderful light that was bouncing off some of the tall glass buildings there. The gold doors to the station then created a wonderful backdrop to frame Dennis and Marcella with.
I’m a Boston wedding photographer, but I haven’t grown up here and have actually only been shooting in this city for just over a year now, after moving from London, England. There are a TON of places that I see everyday that I would really love to shoot in and having been down to Boston’s Waterfront a number of times felt it would make for a really great Boston engagement shoot location.
It was a colder day than the crazy 80F temperatures that we had felt the week before in March, but the sun was shining and bringing a little warmth, when out of the wind. Normally bright sunshine isn’t the best for your Boston engagement or wedding photos but working with it, you can still get some great results nonetheless.
Boston’s Waterfront provides a mix of old and new to work with and really provides some great locations. There are some great spots where you can really get great light for shots and others that if you work with the light will give you a great Boston backdrop to your engagement or wedding photographs.
We wrapped up the shoot in the North End, just a short walk away. This was another location that had been on my hit list of potential “Boston engagement session locations” and although by this point we were all starting to get a little cold, the guys did great and we got a good selection of images from here as well. We finished up the afternoon with an espresso in one of the Italian cafes on Hanover Street. You can’t get a much better coffee in Boston than there.
If you are interested in having your Boston engagement photos taken by the waterfront, in the North End or any other part of town then please get in touch, I would love to shoot more in both of those locations as well as a big list of others too! I’m currently booking Boston wedding photography and engagement session for 2012 and 2013 so please don’t hesitate to get in touch by clicking here and dropping me a line.
A big thank you and shout out to Marcella Sacco and Dennis Mulherin!! I would definitely recommend working with these guys if you are another photographer looking to do a shoot in Boston.
