This was a really fun day that I have been looking forward to for a while. I met with Mike and Reba back in the winter to discuss their Rockport wedding. I knew this one would have an extra element of commonality for me as well, as Mike and his family were all Portuguese.
Photographing weddings in New England provides you with some fantastic opportunities, and this wedding certainly had plenty of those. The beautiful town of Rockport provided the backdrop for the evening’s celebrations and the fantastic Saint Anthony’s by the Sea Chapel was a truly wonderful place for the actual ceremony.
I started off with Reba and the bridesmaids while they were getting ready, before heading out to catch up with Mike and his groomsmen. With all the preparation shots in the bag, I was ready to head off to the church, Saint Anthony’s by the Sea. This little chapel has a great history, and although the lighting posed a few challenges, I was able to provide some wonderful shots of the ceremony from a number of different viewpoints.
After the ceremony we headed out to Stage Fort Park for wedding photos there. This is a wonderful little spot on the Massachusetts coastline and although we had a high tide in that day and couldn’t access the small beach there, we were still able to get the sea in as a backdrop for the group shots.
Afterwards we headed into Rockport itself to get some shots of Reba and Mike together. We worked the wonderful Rockport lobster house into their wedding shots. This famous old lobster house provided the perfect setting for a Rockport wedding and in fact any New England wedding. After we got a few more shots on the way back (we even managed to take a few wedding photos in a old Chevy thanks to their friendly owner) we headed back to the Rockport Arts Association for the celebrations to begin.
Wedding photography at the Arts Association in Rockport again provides for a wonderful opportunity for images. This place is not only close to some great places for photos but is itself a wonderful space for capturing them. With Mike and Reba dancing away into the night, we left having shared a wonderful day with a great couple and I even got to practice my Portuguese a bit too.
